The
new B4 & B2 versions (the B designation being for front
brake equipped karts) are the latest developments from the
Sniper™ range. The B4 is a further development of the
B2, using an additional two laser modules to point rearward at
the back axle. Combined with
the new rear axle
target system included with the B4, you have the best complete chassis alignment
system on the market.
It's
main features are:
-
Measures
toe, camber, chassis twist & squareness, caster, KPI and
set true steering center.
-
Units
machined from billet aluminium. Targets machined from a
custom aluminium extrusion. Comes standard as clear anodised
but may be coloured depending on OEM brands.
-
Mounting
on 17mm spindles or 40mm hubs is included as a standard
feature. Small clearance fit onto spindle or hub with
thumbscrew activated clamping mechanism.
-
High
accuracy precision ground glass level vial is used for the
ultimate in accuracy when performing caster and chassis
twist measurements.
-
Low
reflectivity decals in matt finish to maintain a protected unit while providing the
ultimate in laser dot accuracy.
-
Comes
packaged in a custom aluminium suite case with foam insert.
The B2 & B4 versions of the
Sniper™ work in exactly the same way as the original, as far
as the front of the kart is concerned. You set your front end
geometry using the same visual grid system to measure toe and
camber. Both B2 & B4 versions still fit inside the
front wheels to enable dynamic settings to be measured with the
kart fully loaded. The only real difference to the original is
the shape.
The B4 has an additional laser module
mounted within each unit, to point at the rear axle. To ensure
accuracy and correct positioning, the B4 also has a much more
accurate, precision ground, glass spirit level vial installed.

Once the B4 is fitted, the two rear
facing lasers (one from each side of the kart) will produce a
red laser dot on the rear target. This dot can then be used to
determine the correct positioning of the rear wheels in relation
to the front. It can be used to detect and measure chassis
twist, and also to re-position the rear axle up or down to
compensate. You can then read off compound kingpin inclination
angle and angular change of camber.

The rear target is mounted to the axle
by means of a radiused shaped recess in the aluminium extrusion it is
produced from. A flexible rubber strap holds the target to the
axle, and provides enough friction to accurately position one
target in relation to the other, and in relation to the
Sniper™, by means of the spirit level block provided with
the unit.

The
same spirit level block forms the basis of the new caster
attachment. The block connects to a custom machined tripod
stand, which in turn supports the caster scale.
The
caster scale harnesses the power of the laser beam to describe
the angle formed by the caster plane of the kart when the
steering wheel is turned.
